Powerful Earthquake Shakes Iran

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) confirmed the earthquake, stating that its epicenter was very close to the ground. According to seismologists, the earthquake's epicenter was located at a depth of about 10 kilometers, which is why its impact was felt so strongly on the surface.

Epicenter Near Major Cities

The epicenter of this earthquake was 54 kilometers west of Kahriz, a city with a population of about 766,000. It was also just 33 kilometers south of the city of Javanrud, which has a population of about 38,000. The proximity of the epicenter to these densely populated areas raised concerns.

No Reports of Casualties or Damage

As the ground shook, people panicked and ran out of their homes and buildings. Household items also began to fall. However, fortunately, according to initial reports, there was no news of any casualties or major loss of life or property in the incident. The local administration immediately dispatched teams to assess the damage in the affected areas.

Continuous Geological Activity in Iran

This is not an isolated incident. Iran has been facing continuous geological disturbances in recent days.

Another Earthquake a Day Before

Just last Sunday, another earthquake of 5.0 magnitude was recorded in the Saland region of the southwestern province of Khuzestan. Following this, Governor Sayyed Mohammad Reza Molaeizadeh had instructed all emergency and rescue services to be on high alert.

Over 80 Tremors in One Week

According to a recent report from the Institute of Geophysics at Tehran University, more than 80 small and large earthquakes have been recorded in Iran within the last week. These continuous tremors have created fear in the minds of local citizens.
