The Brahmin community in Abu Road expressed anger over being ignored in the municipal elections. People from the community registered their protest by burning effigies of the BJP and Congress district presidents.
This protest took place after a meeting held at Parshuram Bhavan. In this meeting, people from the community expressed deep displeasure with both major political parties for not giving adequate representation to the community.
The office-bearers of the community stated that the Brahmin community is being continuously ignored in the municipal elections. Due to this, there is a lot of resentment in the community, which led to this step.
The protestors burned the effigies of BJP District President Raksha Bhandari and Congress District President Leelaram Garasiya.
During the meeting, administrative officials, including the Tehsildar, reached the spot. Citing the election code of conduct and the election process, they requested the community members to postpone the effigy burning program for two days.
Some people had agreed after the officials' explanation, but later, everyone unanimously decided to hold the protest on the same day. Following this, the community members protested by burning the effigies of both district presidents within the Dharamshala complex.
Senior office-bearers of the community, dignitaries, and a large number of community members were present peacefully during this protest.
