Jodhpur | The strike of resident doctors at AIIMS Jodhpur, which had been going on for several days, finally ended on Sunday. As part of a major administrative reshuffle at the institute, Director Dr. Govardhan Dutt Puri has been removed from his post. The central government has directed Dr. GD Puri to report to Delhi. In his place, Dr. Sanjeev Sinha, Director of AIIMS Jammu, has been given additional charge of Jodhpur. Following this major administrative decision, the resident doctors announced the withdrawal of their movement. With the appointment of the new Director, normal operations at the hospital are expected to resume. During the strike, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat reached out to the doctors and listened to their problems. He appealed to the doctors to return to work and held a meeting with the AIIMS administration. The entire dispute began after the death of 29-year-old resident doctor Rajnaresh Yadav of the Anesthesia Department. He was found unconscious in the bathroom of the rest room on Tuesday. Initial investigation suggested a suspected overdose of injection. However, the AIIMS administration has formed a high-level inquiry committee to find out the exact causes of death. The protesting doctors had raised serious questions regarding duty hours, claiming they were made to work for 36 hours continuously. The administration has accepted the demand for the formation of the Resident Doctors Association (RDA). Now, the resident doctors have decided to return to work and start serving patients.
