Ashok Parnami said that the entire country is watching how peacefully, respectfully, and disciplined the students in Jharkhand are raising their voices for their rights.
He said, "But instead of listening to and understanding their demands, the government is responding with batons. This is clear proof of the repressive mentality of the JMM-Congress government."
Questions Raised on Double Standards of Opposition Parties
Parnami targeted the opposition parties, especially Congress, questioning their double standards. He said that the leaders who appear very vocal on student issues from Kota in Rajasthan to Prayagraj, why can't they hear the voice of the students in Jharkhand?
He further added, "Due to the Congress-supported government in Jharkhand, the silence of Rahul Gandhi and other opposition parties for so many days raises several serious questions."
Why Different Attitudes for Jantar Mantar and Jharkhand?
Parnami questioned why the attitude of Rahul Gandhi and other opposition leaders, who advocate for the democratic rights of protesters at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, is different in the case of students in Jharkhand.
He emphasized, "There cannot be different standards for protesters in the same democratic country. This is a sheer injustice."
Demand for Transparency in Recruitment Process
The BJP leader clarified that students in Jharkhand are not just protesting over the issue of paper leaks. They are also raising serious questions about alleged irregularities and lack of transparency in the examination and recruitment process.
He said, "When such a serious issue related to the future of the youth comes to the fore, the government's first responsibility is to listen to them and ensure a fair investigation, not to suppress their movement by force."
The Height of Insensitivity
Parnami said that the students of Jharkhand are not asking for any special facility; they are only fighting for their future and a fair examination system.
He stated, "In such a situation, using force against them is the height of insensitivity. The students asked for a transparent examination, but in return, they got batons. When they demanded their rights, the government gave them wounds as a response."
Demand for a Fair Investigation from the Government
Ashok Parnami demanded that the Jharkhand government should immediately start a dialogue on the students' demands.
He also demanded that a fair investigation into the lathicharge incident be conducted and that concrete and effective steps be taken to make the examination and recruitment process completely transparent.
In conclusion, he said, "Instead of playing politics on questions related to the future of the youth, the government should fix its accountability and deliver justice to the students."
