Rural Service Camp: Hopes Dashed, No Solutions Found
Bikaner | The state government's ambitious rural service camp scheme in Arjansar turned out to be just a formality. The objective of providing on-the-spot solutions to the problems of the villagers completely failed, leading to immense disappointment and anger among the local residents.

Camp Becomes a Numbers Game

The condition of the camp, organized on Monday at the Arjansar railway station premises, was dismal.

After a full day's proceedings, the outcome was merely five birth certificates, one death certificate, and seven Jan Aadhaar approvals.

Officials tried to present these minor online tasks as their success story, while the real issues remained unheard.

Gap Between Government Intent and Ground Reality

The government intends for 51 types of tasks related to 22 departments to be settled in these camps.

This includes important revenue-related work like account division, map correction, and approval of new pathways.

However, not a single one of these tasks was accomplished at the Arjansar camp. Due to the indifference of the officials, the camp proved to be a mere formality.

Gross Neglect of Serious Problems

Villagers pleaded for their serious problems at the camp, but their voices went unheard.

The town's main road, Gauravpath, is flooded with rainwater, making it difficult for people to commute.

Additionally, due to a broken wall of the water works tank, dirty rainwater is directly entering the drinking water source, increasing the risk of disease outbreaks.

Irresponsible Attitude of Officials

Despite these serious complaints, the camp in-charge and Lunkaransar's Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) visited the camp for only ten minutes.

He paid no attention to these problems. The Tehsildar was also present on the spot but took no cognizance.

Villagers alleged that no representative from the Public Works Department (PWD) was even present at the camp to address the road issues.

A villager said, "We came with high hopes that our years-old problems would find some solution, but there is no one here to listen. What is the use of such camps?"

Is There Any Utility to Such Camps?

At the camp, the forest department fulfilled its responsibility by planting a few saplings. Some caste certificates were also issued.

But the main problems for which the villagers were waiting, such as disputes related to roads, pathways, and demarcation of public land, remained as they were.

No action was taken on revenue matters like Khasra and map correction, which is a primary objective of these camps.

This camp in Arjansar exposes the negligence of officials and the ground-level implementation of government schemes. If the real problems of the villagers are not solved, it is natural for the public's faith in such events to erode. The administration needs to address these issues immediately.
