Sri Lanka's Dasun Shanaka smashed the fastest century in CPL history, reaching the milestone in just 39 balls during a blistering innings.
In the 25th match of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026, Sri Lankan all-rounder Dasun Shanaka created a storm with his bat. He set a new record by scoring the fastest century in the tournament's history.
Shanaka played this explosive innings against the St Lucia Kings, helping his team, the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, to a massive score.
During his blistering knock of 121 runs, Dasun Shanaka hit shots all around the ground. He completed his century in just 39 balls, the fastest ever in CPL history.
In this innings, he struck 8 fours and 12 towering sixes. His strike rate was an incredible 281, leaving the opposition bowlers completely helpless.
With this innings, Shanaka also broke the record of West Indies' power-hitter Andre Russell. Russell had scored a century in 40 balls in 2018.
This century became even more special for Shanaka as he achieved a significant milestone in T20 cricket.
He became the eighth player in the world to have scored a century and also taken 100 wickets in T20 cricket. This prestigious list includes legendary all-rounders like Shane Watson, Glenn Maxwell, Ravi Bopara, and Will Jacks.
Dasun Shanaka was recently recalled to Sri Lanka's T20 and ODI squads. With this record-breaking century in the CPL, he has justified the selectors' decision.
In the match, the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots defeated the St Lucia Kings by a huge margin of 137 runs.
Batting first, St Kitts posted a massive total of 235 for 4 in their 20 overs. Besides Shanaka, Fletcher contributed 64 runs off 38 balls, and Johnson Charles scored 26 off 23 balls.
Chasing a target of 236, the St Lucia Kings' innings faltered from the start, and the entire team was bowled out for just 98 runs.
For St Kitts, Jeremiah Louis was the star with the ball, taking 5 wickets for just 10 runs. Wanindu Hasaranga and Ashmead Nedd also picked up 2 wickets each.
