Jaipur municipal election saw a record 63.55% turnout, crossing the 60% mark for the first time. Amer recorded the highest polling at 81.45%.
The start of polling was slow in the morning. By 10 am, only 16.20 percent of voters had reached the booths to cast their votes.
However, voting picked up pace by the afternoon. The figure rose to 37.36 percent by 1 pm and reached 48.89 percent by 3 pm.
Voting gained the most momentum in the final three hours, resulting in the total turnout in Jaipur reaching a record level of 63.55 percent.
There were a total of 24,33,198 registered voters in the election. Out of these, 15,46,193 voters cast their votes.
Meanwhile, 8,87,005 voters did not turn up to vote for various reasons.
A special feature of this election was that except for the Sanganer assembly constituency, all other 9 assembly constituencies saw an increase in the voting percentage.
According to assembly constituencies, Amer was at the forefront in Jaipur with 81.45 percent polling. However, this area has only three wards of the municipal corporation.
Following this, Adarsh Nagar recorded 72.20%, Hawa Mahal 68.85%, Kishanpol 67.44%, and Jhotwara 64.39% polling. Vidhyadhar Nagar, which has 22 wards, saw 63.32% voting.
The lowest polling was recorded in the Civil Lines assembly constituency, where only 57.28% of voters cast their ballots. Malviya Nagar had 57.86% and Sanganer had 57.85% polling.
Compared to the 2020 municipal elections, the Adarsh Nagar assembly constituency registered the biggest jump of 14.90 percentage points in polling this time.
Polling also increased in other areas, with Civil Lines seeing a rise of 9.82, Kishanpol 9.80, Amer 8.51, and Jhotwara 8.38 percentage points.
In contrast, Sanganer was the only assembly constituency where the voting percentage decreased. The polling here was 57.85% this time, compared to 59.59% in 2020.
Looking at the voter turnout in the last few municipal elections in Jaipur, there has been a consistent increase.
By touching the 63.55% mark this time, the city has set a new record.
