Divya Maderna's Protest Succeeds, Admin Orders Probe
Jodhpur |Serious allegations of partiality have been leveled against police and administrative officials during the nomination process for the Mathania municipal elections 2026 in Jodhpur district, Rajasthan. In protest, former MLA Divya Maderna sat on a dharna outside the Returning Officer's (RO) office all night. The protest ended on Tuesday morning after an agreement was reached between the administration and Maderna.

Why Did This Entire Dispute Start?

The main reason for the dispute is believed to be the entry given to some people into the office even after the deadline on the last day of nominations. Divya Maderna raised serious questions about this process and called it an insult to democracy.

Entry to BJP Candidate After Deadline!

Divya Maderna alleged that the deadline for filing nominations in Mathania ended at 3 PM.

Despite this, the regional MLA and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate were allowed to enter the RO office, which is a clear violation of the rules.

Serious Allegation of Bias Against Police

Maderna also alleged that the local Station House Officer (CI) personally went to the gate to receive and escort the BJP leaders inside.

She said that at the same time, the Congress candidate already inside the office was mistreated and forcibly removed.

Overnight Protest Outside RO Office

Raising sharp questions about the administrative style, former MLA Divya Maderna, along with her supporters, sat on the ground outside the Mathania RO office all night.

When no person can be allowed entry into the nomination process after 3 PM, then how were the BJP people allowed to go inside? How did the police officer take them inside after the gate was closed? Are there different rules for the ruling party and the opposition in a democracy and the constitution? This is not just misbehavior with our candidate, but a direct insult to election fairness.

Talks and Agreement with Administrative Officials

Seeing the seriousness of the matter, senior police and district administration officials reached the spot and tried to negotiate with Maderna.

Late-Night Talks Failed

Around 3 AM, a team of officials reached the protest site and talked to Divya Maderna. However, expressing dissatisfaction with the officials' stance at that time, Maderna refused to end the protest.

Agreement Reached on These Demands in the Morning

A high-level meeting was held again with administrative officials on Tuesday morning. In this meeting, the objections raised by Maderna were seriously considered, after which the administration gave a written assurance.

  • A fair investigation will be conducted into the roles of the controversial Station House Officer (CI) and the Returning Officer (RO).
  • Additional observers will be deployed in Mathania and Tinwari to maintain the transparency of the election process.

After this written assurance, Divya Maderna announced the end of her protest. She stated that different rules for the ruling party and the opposition in the election process would not be accepted at any cost.
