Sunil Acharya from BJP and Yash Sharma from Congress have filed nominations for Mount Abu Municipal Chairman. With a clear majority, Acharya's victory seems certain.
On behalf of the BJP, Sunil Acharya presented his claim for the chairman's post. He appeared before the returning officer with his two proposers and submitted his nomination paper.
About an hour later, Yash Sharma from the Congress party also filed his papers for the chairman's post. He also arrived with his two proposers and presented his claim.
Looking at the results of the recently concluded municipal body elections, the BJP seems to have the upper hand. The party has already crossed the majority mark.
The BJP has a total of 15 winning candidates, while the Congress had to be content with only 7 seats. Additionally, the inclination of several independent councilors is also said to be towards the BJP.
Given these electoral equations, the path for BJP's Sunil Acharya to become the chairman is considered almost clear.
However, the final and clear picture of how many more independent councilors' support he will get, besides his 15 candidates, will emerge only on September 21.
