Rajasthan's medical department has issued key directives for elderly patients, including separate OPD/IPD lines, geriatric corners, and free parking.
The order, issued by the Director (Public Health), Medical and Health Services, Jaipur, clarifies that the initiative aims to reduce the inconvenience faced by elderly patients during treatment.
This arrangement will be implemented in all district hospitals, sub-district hospitals, satellite hospitals, and community health centers (CHCs) in the state.
According to the new directives, separate OPD and IPD lines will be arranged for elderly patients in all hospitals.
Additionally, there will be a separate registration counter for them to avoid waiting in long queues.
Special display boards will also be installed in hospitals for the convenience of the elderly, allowing them to easily access necessary information.
The order also directs the establishment of a 'Geriatric Corner' in hospitals.
At this corner, dedicated staff and wheelchairs will be arranged to assist the elderly.
Medical institutions facing a shortage of wheelchairs have been instructed to procure them immediately from the RMRS fund.
In another major relief, parking facilities for the elderly have been made completely free in all state hospitals.
To avail this facility, the elderly can show their Jan Aadhar, Aadhar card, or any other necessary document as proof of age.
