For the upcoming 309 urban local body elections in Rajasthan in August-September 2026, the education department has issued orders for holidays in schools used for polling and counting.
In an order issued by the Director of the Education Department, Lalit Kumar, it has been stated that school buildings, furniture, and the services of employees are to be made available for election work.
According to the order, an educational holiday has been declared in the school buildings that will be used as polling centers during the voting process.
This holiday will be effective for the days when the polling teams are present at the centers. The department has clarified that this holiday will only apply if it is not a gazetted holiday.
The polling process has been divided into two phases, and holiday dates have been set for both.
After the polling process is complete, the counting of votes will also take place in school buildings.
An educational holiday has been declared on September 14 in the schools that will be used as counting centers to ensure the counting process runs smoothly.
The Education Department has directed the concerned officials to establish contact and coordination with the District Collector's office.
They have been asked to obtain necessary guidelines for the election work and to ensure the availability of buildings, furniture, and staff from educational institutions.
