Jaipur | To make the roads of Rajasthan safer, the police have launched a major campaign until June 30. Its aim is to take strict action against reckless drivers who violate traffic rules. The police are adopting a zero-tolerance policy during this period.
Action on 4869 Vehicles on the First Day
The police initiated swift action right from the start of the campaign. Additional Director General of Police (Traffic), Dr. B.L. Meena, stated that on the first day itself, cases were registered against 4869 vehicles across the state under the Motor Vehicle Act.
This action was primarily focused on 6 serious categories that often cause road accidents. The police launched this action after an initial 3-day awareness drive.
Illegal Lights and Hooters: 214 vehicles were caught using illegal red-blue lights and hooters to project a VIP culture.
Pressure Horns: 212 vehicles were fined for using loud pressure horns.
Vehicle Seizure for Modifications, License to be Canceled
The traffic police have warned that any alteration to the original structure of a vehicle is illegal. It changes the information recorded in the vehicle's Registration Certificate (RC).
According to the Traffic Department, "There is a trend among youth to change bike silencers or tires. Any such modification will now lead to the vehicle being seized directly."
Police said that there is a special focus on those who install silencers that produce a firecracker-like sound. Garage owners who perform such modifications have also been strictly warned.
This campaign is not just about imposing fines. Illegal hooters, flashers, and pressure horns are being confiscated and destroyed on the spot.
Officials say that these devices not only cause noise pollution but also lead to accidents. Therefore, the driving license of the violating driver can also be suspended for three months or permanently canceled.
This campaign is a strong message for all those who flout rules and show off on the roads. The police aim to bring about a significant improvement in traffic discipline by the end of this month.
