Student Union Polls: 3 Leaders Protest on Water Tank
Jaipur | The protest for the restoration of student union elections at Rajasthan University has now intensified. On Thursday morning, three student leaders climbed a water tank near Tonk Phatak culvert in Jaipur to press for their demands.

The protesting student leaders include the university's NSUI in-charge Vijaypal Kudi, Vice President Koshen Khan, and member Viona Jat. They have announced that they will not come down until they receive a concrete response from the government.

Government Accused of Neglect

Vice President Koshen Khan stated that students have been raising their demands for a long time, but the government is paying no attention to them. He said they will continue their protest until they receive a firm assurance from the government.

'Warning in Bhagat Singh's Style'

Koshen said that they had previously raised their voices peacefully several times and even performed street plays, but to no avail. This movement has been ongoing at Rajasthan University for the past 16 days.

Another student leader, Shubham Rewad, has been on a hunger strike for the past 8 days, yet there has been no response from the government. Koshen said, "Now we have been forced to take this step. We are warning the government in the style of Bhagat Singh."

What are the Main Demands of the Students?

The protesting students have two main demands on which they are adamant.

1. Restoration of Student Union Elections

The foremost demand of the students is the immediate restoration of student union elections in Rajasthan's universities, which have been suspended for the past four years. They state that student union elections are their right, and they will claim it.

2. Demand for Apology from Home Minister

Their second demand is related to Union Home Minister Amit Shah. They want the Home Minister to publicly apologize for the lathi-charge on youth at Jantar Mantar in Delhi and the firing on students in Bihar.

'Protest to Continue with Only Water'

The student leaders on the tank reported that they have no food and are continuing their protest solely on water. They said that even after the water runs out, they will not come down and will continue their protest. The police are trying to persuade them, but they remain firm on their demands.
