RUIDP's Fifth Phase: A New Chapter in Rajasthan's Urban Development

Bikaner | The Rajasthan Urban Infrastructure Development Project (RUIDP) has geared up for its fifth phase. Under this phase, extensive preparations have begun to carry out development works in 84 cities of the state at a cost of approximately ₹9,500 crore.

Before implementing this ambitious plan, suggestions will be sought from local residents and stakeholders.

Dialogue Programs for Public Participation

Under the project, special dialogue programs will be organized in 84 cities of the state from August 5 to August 11.

Public representatives, former councilors, eminent citizens, media representatives, and other stakeholders have been invited to these programs. The main objective is to provide detailed information about the proposed works under the project and to receive important suggestions and feedback at the local level.

Which Areas Will Be Focused On?

The government's goal is to make cities smarter, more sustainable, and equipped with better civic amenities, keeping in view the rapidly increasing urbanization.

Infrastructure Development

Several important sectors have been included under the project. These primarily include wastewater management, solid waste management, and urban traffic improvement.

Additionally, crucial basic facilities like flood and drainage management, heritage conservation, tourism development, and Command and Control Centers will also be developed. These works will provide a better urban living experience to millions of citizens in 84 urban local bodies of the state.

International Financial Cooperation

The fifth phase of RUIDP will receive financial support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the World Bank, which highlights the importance of this project.

The estimated cost of the project operated with ADB's assistance is ₹6009 crore, while the cost of the World Bank-supported project is set at ₹3492 crore.

Goal of a Developed Rajasthan 2047

The objective of these schemes is not only to develop modern urban infrastructure but also a significant step towards accelerating the goals of 'Viksit Bharat-2047' and 'Viksit Rajasthan-2047'.

Budget Allocation in Various Sectors

The budget under the project has been allocated according to the needs of various sectors:

  • Wastewater Management: ₹4047 crore will be spent on its reuse in 67 cities.
  • Solid Waste Management: ₹650 crore will be spent on this in 32 cities.
  • Urban Traffic Improvement: A provision of ₹2022 crore has been made for seven district headquarters.
  • Flood & Drainage Management: ₹500 crore will be spent in 56 cities.
  • Heritage Conservation & Tourism: ₹701 crore will be spent on 56 development works.

Through these schemes, special emphasis will be placed on improving the standard of living in cities, promoting environmental protection, and strengthening basic facilities.
