Shivganj | Anger erupted among villagers in Kailashnagar on Tuesday in protest against the move to allocate about 3800 bighas of state and revenue land in the Manadar-1 and Manadar-2 areas to a private solar company. A large number of villagers united to stage a sit-in protest.
Former MLA Sanyam Lodha also participated in the protest and fiercely targeted the state government, accusing it of ignoring the interests of the villagers to benefit a private company.
Accusation of Benefiting Industrialists Against the Government
Addressing the villagers at the protest site, former MLA Sanyam Lodha said that the state's BJP government is bent on attacking the rights and interests of the villagers for the benefit of a registered private company.
He alleged that action is being taken to hand over more than 3800 bighas of valuable government and revenue land in the Manadar area to the private company.
Questions Raised on the Speed of the Process
Lodha said that the speed with which departmental recommendations were made after the application for the 400 MW solar project was submitted on March 23, 2026, raises questions about the government's priorities.
'Government is Worried About Industrialists, Not Villagers'
Lodha stated that the allocation of such a large amount of land in favor of a private company is not just a matter of land transfer, but it will also affect the traditional livelihood and future needs of thousands of villagers in the area.
He said that villagers have been using this land, located in various Khasra numbers of the Manadar area, for community, traditional, and animal husbandry needs for years. In such a situation, if the land goes into private hands, the villagers could face a serious crisis.
He said that the rights of the villagers cannot be terminated in the name of development. The villagers will not compromise on their rights over the present as well as the future development and resources of their area.
Warning of Agitation if Allotment is Not Canceled
The former MLA warned the state government that if the land allotment process is carried forward by ignoring the sentiments and interests of the villagers, the movement will be expanded.
He said that if the government does not immediately cancel this proposal, a major movement will be launched at the district level, and the fight for the rights of the villagers will be fought from the streets to the administrative level.
Memorandum Submitted to the Chief Minister
At the end of the sit-in protest, in the presence of former MLA Sanyam Lodha, the villagers submitted a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister to the Deputy Tehsildar of Kailashnagar.
The memorandum demanded the immediate cancellation of the proposal to allocate thousands of bighas of land in the Manadar-1 and Manadar-2 areas to the private company and the protection of public and rural interests.
