An incident that raises serious questions about the law and order situation has come to light from the Sirohi district of Rajasthan. In the Revdar area of the district, a farmer's buffalo worth lakhs of rupees was looted in broad daylight. When the farmer's wife protested this loot, the accused not only pushed her but also outraged her modesty.
The most shocking aspect of this case is that the Revdar police station refused to register a case, calling it a 'small matter'. Now, in the hope of justice, the 65-year-old elderly victim has directly approached the Superintendent of Police (SP).
This incident took place in Salotra village of Revdar tehsil. A 65-year-old resident, Sodaram son of Revaji Koli, has submitted a written complaint to the Sirohi SP.
In the complaint, Sodaram stated that Ramaram son of Sakaram Garasiya, Dhanaram son of Sakaram Garasiya, Natharam son of Sakaram Garasiya, and Naga son of Ratnaji Garasiya forcibly stole his buffalo by driving it away in front of his wife.
Woman Molested
When the victim's wife tried to stop the accused, they misbehaved with her. According to the complaint, the accused not only used foul language but also outraged her modesty by pulling her 'odhani' (scarf).
Victim's Challenge: 'Get a DNA Test of the Buffalo'
Victim Sodaram has presented a unique challenge to the police in his complaint. He has stated that the mother of the stolen buffalo and one of its calves are still with him.
He said, 'I am ready to get a medical and DNA test of the buffalo done at my own expense.' This would prove that he is the real owner of the buffalo.
Threat to Life as Well
The victim also mentioned that when he goes to the accused to ask for his buffalo back, a crowd of 60-70 people gathers and becomes aggressive, ready to attack him.
Providing information about the stolen buffalo, he said that the buffalo is black, 5 years old, and is also pregnant. Its estimated value is Rs 1 lakh.
Allegation of Conspiracy in Theft
In his complaint, the victim has also accused some other individuals of conspiring in this theft. According to the complaint, the theft was carried out at the instigation of Mohan son of Rajaji, Kailash son of Rajaji, Arjun son of Nava, and Deva son of Nava.
Expressing his anguish, Sodaram said that farming and animal husbandry are his only means of livelihood. He expressed concern that if such thefts continue to happen openly, the morale of thieves will be further boosted.
