Sirohi: Illegal Liquor Sale From Warehouse, Excise Dept Silent
Sirohi |The functioning of the Excise Department regarding the operation of liquor contracts in the district has once again come under scrutiny. Near the tunnel in Sirohi, on the road leading towards Abu Road-Gujarat from the highway, a warehouse is allegedly being operated as a liquor shop.

It is alleged that English liquor is being sold rampantly under the guise of this warehouse. To attract customers, an English liquor board and a signboard have also been installed.

Warehouse Turned Shop, Shop Turned Earning Hub!

According to local people, the place that was established as a warehouse is now being used to sell liquor like a shop.

Considering the movement of vehicles passing on the highway, the alleged business of selling liquor here continues till late at night. This raises the question of whether the concerned department is unaware of this activity.

Arrangements for Drinking Along with Selling?

The matter is not limited to just selling liquor. It is being said that arrangements have also been made for people to sit and drink liquor around the warehouse.

Due to this, crowds are reported to gather here till late at night. If all this is happening without a valid permit, it raises serious questions about the monitoring and enforcement of excise rules.

Gathering on the Highway, Questions on Safety

The sale of liquor on the highway and the alleged activity of serving it to people to drink on-site have also increased concerns about road safety.

After consuming alcohol, people directly come onto the highway, which poses a risk of accidents. The possibility of disputes and fights after drinking late at night also remains.

Why Isn't the Excise Department Noticing?

The biggest question is that if these activities have been going on for a long time, why haven't the concerned excise officials and police noticed? Is the department unaware, or is no action being taken despite being aware?

Local people have demanded a fair investigation into the whole matter and an inspection of the site. If a violation of rules is found, action should be taken against the concerned contractor as per the rules.

If any such shop is running, action will be taken. -Gajendra Singh, District Excise Officer, Sirohi
