A memorandum was submitted to the Collector in the name of the Chief Minister, also demanding narco tests for the accused.
Sirohi | Significant public outrage was witnessed at the Sirohi district headquarters in protest against the murder of Abhay Rajpurohit in Amlari village of the Kalandri police station area. A massive justice march was organized by the Sarva Samaj, where thousands of people took to the streets demanding justice.
Massive Turnout at the Justice March
This rally, called by the Rajpurohit community, saw a large number of community members not only from Sirohi but also from Jalore, Pali, and other districts and states.
The justice march started from Ramjhula Maidan and proceeded through the main roads of the city to reach the Collectorate. A notable feature of this protest was that women were leading from the front.
Behind them, thousands of people carrying placards chanted slogans in support of justice. The organizing community claims that about 5,000 people participated in this movement.
Memorandum Submitted in the Chief Minister's Name
After reaching the Collectorate, the protesters submitted a memorandum to the District Collector addressed to the Chief Minister. The memorandum demanded the strictest possible action against the accused.
The memorandum stated that this heinous murder has raised serious questions about the law and order and the justice system in the region. A demand was made to the government to instill fear of the law among criminals and confidence in security among the general public.
Key Demands Presented in the Memorandum
The Sarva Samaj has put forward several important demands in its memorandum to ensure fair and speedy justice in the case.
Key demands include the appointment of a special officer for effective advocacy in the case.
Additionally, there is a demand to conduct the trial in a fast-track court and to perform narco tests on all the accused.
The community also demanded the immediate recovery of the weapons used in the incident and the full disclosure of the conspiracy based on CCTV footage. A major demand was also to use bulldozers on the houses of the accused.
Aid and Security for the Victim's Family
The memorandum demands financial assistance of one crore rupees for the victim's family.
Furthermore, it includes a demand for a government job for the wife of the deceased Abhay Rajpurohit and to ensure the security of the entire family.
The community expressed apprehension that if strict action is not taken, the victim's family might be forced to leave their village out of fear.
Protest Remained Peaceful
A heavy police force was deployed to maintain law and order during the justice march. The police force, led by Sirohi DSP Mukesh Kumar Chaudhary, was fully alert. The rally concluded peacefully without any untoward incident.
