The BSE benchmark Sensex opened up by 299 points at 72,771.32. At 9:21 AM, it was trading higher by 0.19 percent or 131 points at 72,597.
Subsequently, the momentum slowed down. By 9:50 AM, Sensex was trading down by 0.16 percent or 118 points at 72,349.
At the same time, the NSE Nifty-50 was trading down by 0.15 percent or 33 points at 22,487.
In early trade, 20 out of 30 Sensex pack stocks were in the green, while 10 stocks were in the red.
