West Bengal BJP president dismisses rumors of 17 TMC MPs joining the party, stating that any decision will be made only after scrutinizing their past records.
Bengal BJP President Shamik Bhattacharya has given a major statement dismissing these speculations.
Shamik Bhattacharya clearly stated that currently, there is no official information about any leader from Trinamool Congress or NCPI joining the BJP. His statement has put an end to all the discussions that were circulating in political corridors for the past few days.
Bhattacharya also clarified that no leader will be given entry into the party just by expressing a desire to join the BJP. He emphasized that the party has a process that will be followed.
After this firm stance by the BJP, the troubles have increased for those 17 MPs who were rumored to be switching parties. These leaders were distancing themselves from their old party on one hand and were hoping to join the BJP on the other.
Now the situation has become such that these leaders are 'neither here nor there'. This decision by the BJP has left them in the lurch, sparking a new debate in Bengal politics.
