A 295.5 km long pipeline will be laid under the ₹34,102 crore project.
CM Bhajanlal Sharma has been hailed as the 'Bhagirath of Shekhawati'.
Jaipur | Today is a historic day for Rajasthan. After a long wait of 32 years, the Yamuna water agreement has finally been sealed. This agreement will solve the water problem of Sikar, Churu, and Jhunjhunu districts in the Shekhawati region, directly benefiting about 75 lakh people.
A 32-Year-Old Dream Comes True
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has expressed its gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for this achievement. Senior BJP leader Rajendra Rathore said that this dream was envisioned by the late former Chief Minister Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, which has been fulfilled today by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma.
Rathore mentioned that it was the dream of a 'son of the soil', which has been realized by a 'farmer's son'. Under this agreement, Rajasthan will receive an average flow of 1917 cusecs of Yamuna water. This water will reach Hasiyawas reservoir in Churu from Hathnikund barrage in Haryana.
The total cost of this ambitious project is ₹34,102 crore. A 295.5-kilometer-long underground pipeline will be laid for this purpose. This project will prove to be a new lifeline for the Shekhawati region, where water scarcity has been a major challenge.
The state government is also making all possible efforts to get this project the status of a national project. Rathore informed that the process of land acquisition and tendering for the project will be started soon.
Grand Welcome for CM Bhajanlal
After this major achievement, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma will be given a grand welcome at the Jaipur airport. People from Shekhawati and BJP workers will gather to felicitate him. Rajendra Rathore has also invited former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to the CM's felicitation ceremony.
Rathore said, "A few days ago, Ashok Gehlot had said that if an agreement on Yamuna water was reached, he would congratulate the CM. Today, that time has come."
Criticism Aimed at Congress
On this occasion, BJP leaders also heavily criticized the Congress. They said that Congress used to promise to bring Yamuna water in its manifesto but would remain silent after forming the government. They alleged that Congress leaders cannot differentiate between an MoU and an MoA. This is not just an MoU, but a firm MoA (Memorandum of Agreement).
Former Sikar MP Swami Sumedhanand Saraswati described Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma as the 'Bhagirath of Shekhawati'. He said that this success was achieved only due to the continuous efforts of the CM, whereas the intention of the previous Congress government was not clear.
This agreement will not only alleviate water scarcity but will also give new impetus to the agricultural and economic development of the region. For the people of Shekhawati, this is a happy end to a decades-old struggle, which will bring a positive change in their lives.
