The Forest Department in Bikaner has launched the 'Selfie with Rohida' campaign to conserve the state flower, Rohida, aiming to raise awareness among youth and the public.

Under the campaign, citizens can take a selfie with a unique Rohida tree and upload it online.
The objective is to create a digital record of Rohida trees and increase public awareness.
The top five participants will be honored at the district-level Van Mahotsav.
Bikaner |Under the state government's 'Panch Gaurav' scheme, Rohida has been selected as the 'one district-one plant species' for Bikaner district. An initiative has been taken to create a mass movement for the conservation of Rohida, which holds a unique identity in desert conditions and is the state flower of Rajasthan.
Deputy Conservator of Forests G. Venkatesh stated that the campaign's objective is not limited to just a selfie contest.
Its goal is to spread the message of 'Know Rohida, Identify Rohida, and Save Rohida' to every person.
Through this campaign, an effort is being made to connect the new generation with this unique plant species of the district. Additionally, the aim is to establish Rohida as an environmental identity and pride of Bikaner.
How to Participate in the Campaign?
The Deputy Conservator of Forests mentioned that any citizen of the district can participate in the campaign.
Efforts are being made to specifically engage youth, students, environmentalists, nature photographers, villagers, and social media users in the campaign.
Based on the photos and information shared by participants, unique Rohida trees in the district will be identified. Subsequently, a future action plan for their conservation and promotion will be prepared.

The Forest Department will also extensively promote the campaign through social media.
Participants can use hashtags like #SelfieWithRohida, #RohidaBikaner, and #PanchGaurav while sharing their selfies. This will help in turning the campaign into a mass movement.
Best Participants to be Honored
Out of the entries received during the campaign, the top five participants will be honored at the district-level Van Mahotsav.
Notably, Rohida is an important component of the desert ecosystem and holds special significance in terms of its utility and biodiversity in local conditions.
