BRICS Warns, Expresses Grave Concern Over Nuclear Attacks
New Delhi | At the BRICS summit, leaders of the group have expressed serious concern over deliberate attacks on civilian facilities and peaceful nuclear installations. At the summit concluded in New Delhi on Saturday, the group of 11 nations unanimously accepted a joint declaration.

This declaration strongly appeals for maximum restraint in the Middle East and for ensuring the safety of civilian and nuclear infrastructure. This statement comes amidst rising global tensions, which have increased the concerns of major powers.

Clear Stance on Nuclear Security

The BRICS joint declaration clearly states that nuclear safety and security must be maintained under all circumstances, even during 'armed conflicts'.

Its main objective is to ensure that these conflicts do not cause any harm to the general public and the environment.

Indirect Criticism of Attacks

Political analysts believe that this statement is being seen as an indirect criticism of the attacks carried out by the United States and Israel on Iran's nuclear facilities. BRICS has sent a strong message without naming any country.

Success of Diplomatic Efforts

This declaration is the result of intensive diplomatic efforts hosted by India. Earlier, in the BRICS foreign ministers' meeting held in May, no joint statement could be issued due to differences between Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

However, following India's efforts, this important statement was issued at the leaders' meeting on Saturday, reflecting the group's unity.

Voice Raised Against Unilateral Sanctions

The leaders also criticized unilateral sanctions not authorized by the UN Security Council. Although no country was named directly, this comment is considered very significant in the context of Western sanctions against Russia.

Top Leaders at the Summit

This important summit was attended by several top leaders including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

Chinese President Xi Jinping stated in the opening session that the war in the Middle East is not in the common interest of the international community. He urged the BRICS group to play the role of a peacekeeper in the region.
