He not only won the bronze medal with a spectacular throw of 85.41 meters but also turned the entire competition on its head.
With this excellent throw, he also improved his previous personal best record of 83.72 meters.
Yashveer's achievement is also very special because he secured his place on the podium, leaving behind big names like former world champion Anderson Peters and current Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem.
After winning the medal at the Commonwealth, Yashveer said, "I had full confidence in myself before the last throw. The first five attempts were not as expected, but I did not lose focus. It was the last chance, and I gave it my all."
Originally from Bhiwani, Haryana, Yashveer Singh's sports life began at the Jaipur Railway Colony. His father is employed with the Indian Railways, and the family settled here due to his posting in Jaipur.
Yashveer mentioned that he got the inspiration for javelin throw from his father, who himself was a good javelin player.
He said, "I took up this sport after watching him. In the early days, he taught me the techniques and nuances of the sport."
His journey began while practicing with his father at the Railway Ground. For the past seven years, he has been working hard with the goal of winning a medal for the country at the international level.
Yashveer's career also went through a difficult phase when an injury from an accident forced him to stay away from the sport for about six months.
Recalling that period, he said, "I was very disappointed at that time, but I didn't give up. I focused completely on recovery and promised myself that I would make a strong comeback."
Yashveer shared that he was not very interested in studies, but his father wanted him to build his future through sports.
When he saw Neeraj Chopra winning a medal for India, he also decided that one day he too would win a medal for the country and raise the tricolour high.
