The vote counting began at 8 AM on Monday and was completed in five rounds. In the election for a total of 25 wards, Congress registered a spectacular victory in 13 wards.
Meanwhile, the ruling BJP had to be content with only 7 seats. Additionally, independent candidates won in 5 wards. As soon as the results were out, a celebratory atmosphere erupted among Congress supporters.
The fall of BJP's stronghold in Pindwara is not just an electoral defeat but also a sign of a major shift in local politics. According to political analysts, there were several key reasons behind this loss.
The most interesting contest of this election was seen in ward number 6. Here, the BJP and an independent candidate received an equal number of votes.
After the tie, a lottery was used as per the electoral process. Luck favored the independent candidate in the lottery, and he was declared the winner.
The new municipal council to be formed after this election will see a mix of new and old faces. Many new faces have won for the first time, while some former councilors have also made a comeback.
