Jaipur |The State Election Commission, Rajasthan, has begun its preparations for the upcoming Urban Body General Elections-2026. The commission has issued important instructions to all District Election Officers to ensure strict compliance with the Model Code of Conduct.

Commission's Strict Stance on Code of Conduct

According to the commission, as soon as the election schedule is announced, the Model Code of Conduct will be immediately implemented in the respective urban body areas. This code will remain in effect until the completion of the election process. Its purpose is to ensure free and fair elections.

What are the Key Directives?

The order issued by Chief Electoral Officer and Secretary Rajesh Verma emphasizes several important points. The administration has been asked to remove posters, banners, hoardings, flexes, and flags from government and public properties. Additionally, there are instructions to erase election-related slogans written on walls.

Timeline Set for Reporting

The commission has ordered the district administration to take swift action and submit reports within a specified timeline. Information has been sought in four different formats for this purpose.

Within 24 hours: Report on the removal of campaign materials from government properties and the restriction on the use of government vehicles.
Within 48 hours: Report on the action taken to remove campaign materials from public properties.
Within 72 hours: Report on the removal of campaign materials from private properties and the current status of development/construction works.

Procedure for Sending Reports

All districts have been instructed to send their action-taken reports in Excel sheet format as a soft copy to the commission's official email ID. Additionally, a hard copy must also be attached and sent.

In this regard, the commission has also asked Divisional Commissioners and related departments to ensure necessary action to maintain the sanctity of the electoral process.
