The state of Sanskrit education in Sirohi district is alarming. Against 185 sanctioned posts in 22 schools, only 49 teachers are working, leaving 136 posts vacant. Many schools are running on deputation.
The data regarding the number of students and teachers in various Senior Upadhyay (up to 12th) and State Sanskrit Upper Primary schools under the district's Sanskrit Education Department is disheartening.
According to the available details, 1508 students are studying in a total of 22 Sanskrit schools in Sirohi district. A total of 185 teacher posts are sanctioned for these schools, but currently, only 49 teachers are employed.
As a result, 136 teacher posts are lying vacant, which is about 74% of the total sanctioned posts. This shortage is directly impacting the students' education.
The problem of teacher shortage is prevalent in almost every school. The situation is even more critical in some schools where there is not a single permanent teacher, and the system is being managed through deputation.
The situation in the 12th-grade level Sanskrit schools of the district is extremely poor. Most of the posts for major subjects like Mathematics, Science, and English are vacant.
A severe shortage of teachers is also being seen in Sanskrit schools up to the eighth grade, which is weakening the foundation of primary level education.
Suresh Purohit 'Jugnu', an aware social worker from Valdara village, highlighted the plight of the school in his village. He stated that 16 posts are sanctioned in Valdara's Senior Upadhyay Sanskrit School, but only two third-grade teachers are working, and one teacher has been deputed from another school.
He further added that the posts of Principal, all lecturers, all subject teachers, and five third-grade posts are vacant. Additionally, the post of UDC is also empty. The absence of teachers for major subjects like English, Science, and Mathematics is causing great trouble for the students.
With most of the teacher posts in Sanskrit education in the district being vacant, the entire education system has faltered. Due to this, many parents are forced to withdraw their children from these schools and migrate elsewhere.
