50 farmers participated in the training; more than 700 farmers have been trained so far.
Each farmer will be given 1000 Moringa saplings free of cost along with a certificate.
Bikaner |The three-day farmer skill development training on the subject of Moringa-based agricultural system for sustainable and economic development concluded on Wednesday. The 24th training was organized at the Regional Research Station of CAZRI under this project funded by NABARD. Divisional Commissioner Shri Vishram Meena was present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony.
Addressing the farmers at the ceremony, Divisional Commissioner Vishram Meena said that the daily use of Moringa is important to make food balanced and nutritious.
Calling Moringa a 'superfood', he said that it is rich in nutritional and medicinal properties. It is a multi-purpose crop used in human nutrition, animal husbandry, agriculture, and various industrial works.
Shri Meena said that by value-adding various products of Moringa, farmers can achieve nutritional and economic security along with employment generation. He also mentioned that it is helpful in making the soil fertile.
Importance of Moringa in Ayurveda
The project's chief coordinator, Dr. Borwal, stated that according to Ayurveda, Moringa has the ability to cure many diseases of the body. It is helpful in reducing Vata and Kapha doshas.
He explained that Moringa leaves and fruits are useful in purifying our blood and strengthening our digestive system.
Rich in Nutrients
Providing information on the nutrients of Moringa, Dr. Borwal said that its dried leaves contain about four times more calcium than milk.
Additionally, it has seven times more Vitamin C than oranges, four times more Vitamin A than carrots, and three times more iron than spinach.
He said that Moringa is a plant that grows easily in the soil of our country. By including its leaves and pods in the daily diet, the expenditure on expensive medicines can be reduced.
A Protective Shield in Climate Change
CAZRI President Dr. Navratna Panwar said that in the era of changing climate, Moringa is proving to be not just a plant, but a meaningful and powerful protective shield for both the Earth and mankind.
He stated that Moringa is an important weapon of the future for sustainable agriculture and environmental protection.
CAZRI's senior scientist, Dr. Birbal Meel, reported that 50 farmers from various tehsils of Bikaner district participated in this training.
He informed that each participating farmer will be given 1000 Moringa saplings free of cost along with a certificate.
Under this project operated at CAZRI Bikaner in collaboration with NABARD, more than 700 farmers have been trained so far. More than 2.5 lakh Moringa saplings have been planted in the fields of 250 trained farmers. CAZRI's senior technical officers Shri Mool Singh Gehlot and Dr. Sitaram Jat also contributed to the program.
