This is the longest freight corridor section passing through any single state in the country. The state's major industrial areas are directly benefiting from this network.
Benefits to Industrial Areas
Through this corridor, several important industrial centers of the state, including Jaipur, Ajmer, Pali, and Jodhpur, are getting a fast and reliable freight transport facility. This has made it easier to transport products from textile, ceramic, marble, and other industries to ports and markets.
Nationwide Network and Future Plans
Currently, the 1,337 km long Eastern and 1,506 km long Western Dedicated Freight Corridors are connecting major industrial areas to ports in the country.
The government has also planned for the expansion of this network. In the Budget 2026-27, a new 2,052 km long Dedicated Freight Corridor from Dankuni to Surat was announced, which will further expand this network.
Impact on Environment and Economic Development
This project is also a significant step towards environmental protection. Trains on the DFC operate on electric traction, which saves fuel and reduces carbon emissions.
Furthermore, the development of Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals, logistics parks, and multimodal transport facilities is expected to give new momentum to industry, trade, investment, and employment. This DFC is becoming a crucial foundation for the country's modern logistics system and Rajasthan's industrial development.
