Pakistan's Foreign Ministry, in a statement issued on Monday, attempted to reject India's position. The statement said that the Indian claim regarding Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh is not based on facts.
This reaction comes after the clarification given by New Delhi on Sunday, which had intensified discussions in diplomatic circles.
This entire controversy began after a resolution was passed in the United Nations General Assembly, which aims to more accurately represent the area of continents on the world map. India had voted in favor of this resolution.
Following this, questions began to be raised on social media and at a diplomatic level about India's move, forcing India to clarify its position.
Clarifying the situation on Sunday, Indian Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal had said that India's support was linked to the core principle of equal area representation in maps.
He also made it clear that voting in favor of the resolution should not be considered an endorsement of any particular map, projection, or specific depiction of national boundaries.
