Ahmedabad | The biggest action to date has been initiated against gangsters operating in India from abroad. This operation has been named 'Operation Hardball', under which Indian and US security agencies are jointly tightening the noose on the network of Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar.
Agencies Share Crucial Information
Under this operation, Indian intelligence and central agencies, in collaboration with US officials, have prepared a detailed list of operatives from the Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar gang.
This list not only includes the names of the gangsters but also a complete dossier of their potential hideouts abroad. The agencies of both countries have jointly verified this information.
$5 Million Extortion Demanded from Jail
US security agencies made a major revelation on Wednesday. They stated that the notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, lodged in the high-security Sabarmati Jail in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, made WhatsApp calls to his operatives in the US.
According to the report, Bishnoi made several phone calls and sent messages from inside the jail between December 2025 and January 2026. During these calls, the gangster demanded a hefty extortion sum of 5 million US dollars.
Name Surfaces in Nijjar's Murder
The US Justice Department has leveled serious allegations against Lawrence Bishnoi and his Canada-based associate Goldy Brar. According to the department, these two ordered the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
The US report also stated that Bishnoi's syndicate continuously targets prominent religious, social, and political leaders.
A Game of Extortion by Creating Fear
According to US officials, Lawrence and Brar use these high-profile incidents to create fear in society and then extort money.
Entire Racket Operated from Sabarmati Jail
US officials have confirmed that Lawrence Bishnoi runs his entire gang while sitting in jail.
He has carried out murders, shootings, and extortions in the US using smuggled prohibited cellphones and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) from his jail cell.
In 2022, the Indian investigative agency NIA had also stated that Lawrence Bishnoi is highly skilled at running the gang's entire operation from inside the jail.
This is a major reason why he has never applied for bail in any court to date. However, Bishnoi's lawyer claims that so many cases are registered against him that no one comes forward to furnish his bail bond, which is why he has not filed an application.
