Raksha Bandhan Gift: 2 Days Free Bus Travel for Women
Jaipur |On the auspicious festival of Raksha Bandhan, the Rajasthan government has given a major gift to the women and girls of the state. The government has made a significant decision to provide free travel facilities in Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (Roadways) buses for two days.

Free Travel Facility for Two Days

According to the instructions issued by the Transport and Road Safety Department, this special facility will be available on August 28, 2026, and August 29, 2026. This decision will facilitate lakhs of women and girls in the state to travel to their brothers' homes to tie Rakhi.

Approval from Finance Department

Necessary approval has been obtained from the Finance Department to implement this scheme. Only after receiving the approval, the Transport Department has issued official orders in this regard.

Under the order, women and girls will be able to travel for free within the geographical boundaries of Rajasthan state in ordinary buses operated by Roadways on various routes in the state.

In Which Buses Will This Facility Not Be Available?

The government has clarified that this facility will not be available on all types of buses.

AC and Volvo Buses Excluded

Women will have to pay the full fare for traveling in air-conditioned (AC) and Volvo buses. These luxury buses have been kept out of the scope of the free travel scheme.

Not Applicable on All India Permit Buses Either

Additionally, this facility will not be applicable on buses operating under an All India Permit. This facility is limited to ordinary and express buses of Roadways only.

From When to When Will the Facility Be Available?

The free travel facility is not limited to just the dates of August 28 and 29, but its benefit will be available for a full 48 hours.

According to the instructions, this facility will be effective from 12:00 AM on August 27 to 11:59 PM on August 29. This will give women more flexibility in planning their travel.

Advance Reservation Facility Also Available

For the convenience of passengers, an advance reservation facility has also been provided for travel on these two days. Women and girls can reserve their seats in advance according to the prescribed rules to avoid any inconvenience during the journey.

How to Get a Free Ticket?

Roadways conductors have been instructed to issue zero-fare tickets to women and girls.

Tickets to be Issued from ETIM

These tickets will be issued through E.T.I.M. (Electronic Ticket Issuing Machine). If the machine does not work for any technical reason, a manual ticket will be issued from the ticket book.

It will be mandatory to mention 'Woman/Girl Passenger' and the respective date of travel on the ticket.

Free Travel Only Up to Rajasthan's Border

It has been clarified that the benefit of free travel will be available only within the geographical boundaries of Rajasthan state. If a bus goes to another state outside Rajasthan, passengers will have to pay the fare for the journey beyond the state border.

Records to be Maintained at Depot Level

The Roadways administration has instructed all depots to maintain a record of the actual number of women and girls who travel for free on these two days. This will allow for an accurate departmental account of the number of beneficiaries under the scheme.
