What are the main demands of the protesters?
Through the memorandum, the protesters have placed several key demands before the administration. Their biggest demand is to free the temple land from encroachment.
Appeal for a Fair Investigation
Additionally, they have also demanded a fair investigation into the cases filed against the villagers in this matter. The protesters allege that the police are taking one-sided action in this case, which should be stopped immediately.
Questions Raised on Administration's Functioning
People started gathering at the Ram Jharokha ground from around 9:30 AM. In the meeting held there, representatives of various communities raised serious questions about the administration's style of functioning.
Reason for Escalation of Dispute
The memorandum also alleges that if the tehsil administration had taken effective action in time, this dispute would not have taken such a serious form. The protesters say that instead of removing the encroachers, the administration gave them several days, which worsened the situation.
Allegation of One-Sided Police Action
There is great anger among the people that the police have filed one-sided cases in serious sections against the villagers and members of the temple committee on the complaint of the alleged encroachers.
What is the historical significance of the land?
The temple committee has claimed that the concerned land is registered in the name of Savlaji temple in the revenue records. This land is 'maafi ki doli' land, which was donated by the Deora jagirdars of Shivganj for the operation and maintenance of the temple.
How did the dispute start?
According to the committee, for years, farming was done on this land through the villagers. The income from it was used for the maintenance of the temple and other religious activities. It is alleged that the people who initially farmed with permission later started trying to permanently occupy it. The dispute escalated when the committee did not give them further permission to farm.
Ignoring Devasthan Department's Directives
The memorandum also mentions that the temple was registered with the Devasthan Department on March 19, 2026. After this, the department had instructed the Sub-Divisional Officer, Development Officer, and Tehsildar to hand over the temple's khatedari land to the trust and free it from encroachers, but these instructions were not effectively followed.
Other Demands
In their other demands, the protesters have also called for the immediate arrest of the accused in the assault on Ajram Bhool of the Scheduled Caste and the immediate disconnection of electricity connections provided on the allegedly encroached land.
