Sirohi: Liquor Made in Electric Furnace, 67 Liters Seized
Sirohi |The Excise Department has taken major action against the illegal sale, collection, transportation, and storage of liquor in the district. The department's team raided Vasda village and the Talwarnaka area, busting the illegal liquor trade.

Major Action by Excise Department

During this operation, the team seized approximately 67 liters of illegal country liquor. Additionally, a large quantity of raw material prepared for making liquor was also found at the scene.

The excise team destroyed about 10,000 liters of fermented wash on the spot, dealing a significant blow to illegal liquor production.

Use of Modern Technology

The most surprising aspect of this operation was the use of modern technology to produce illegal liquor.

The team found a modern electric-powered furnace in the field of Bakuram, son of Reshmaram, of the Garasiya caste. This is the first time such technology has been discovered in this area. About 5 liters of illegal country liquor, along with the furnace equipment, were seized from the spot.

Two Accused Arrested, Two Flee

In another action, about 52 liters of illegal country liquor were recovered from the residential house of Sohansingh, son of Sartansingh, a resident of Vasda.

The Excise Department arrested both accused, Bakuram and Sohansingh, from the scene. However, two other accused managed to escape during the raid.

Wash Hidden in Fields

The department conducted its largest seizure in the fields, where about 10,000 liters of fermented wash were stored in 500-liter capacity plastic drums. The excise team destroyed the entire wash on the spot.

Legal Proceedings Initiated

According to the department, a case has been registered against all the arrested and absconding accused under Section 16/54 of the Rajasthan Excise Act, 1950. An investigation has been initiated, and a search is underway for the fugitive accused.

This joint operation was carried out on August 11, 2026, under the orders of the Excise Commissioner of Rajasthan. It was directed by the Additional Excise Commissioner Zone-Jodhpur, Smt. Seema Kaviya, and the District Excise Officer Sirohi, Shri Gajendrasingh Rajpurohit. The operation was led by Assistant Excise Officer Shri Jagdish Ram Vishnoi.

The Excise Department has clarified that this campaign against illegal liquor will continue in the district, and strict action will be taken against those involved in this business.
