Preparations for the upcoming local body elections in Rajasthan have now reached a decisive stage. All eyes are on the reservation lottery for wards and posts of civic body heads, which is highly likely to be drawn in the next four to five days.
Preparations for this process are in their final stages at the level of the concerned District Collector and the Autonomous Governance Department.
Under the local body elections, the lottery for the reservation of wards for councilors will be drawn at the level of the respective District Collector.
Meanwhile, the reservation lottery for key posts like Mayor, Sabhapati, and Chairman will be conducted by the Autonomous Governance Department.
As soon as the reservation picture becomes clear, the activity of the candidates involved in election preparations will increase further. Currently, the heartbeats of all political parties and prospective candidates are set on this proposed reservation lottery next week.
Potential candidates who have been preparing for elections in their respective wards for a long time have their eyes on the lottery, as the electoral equations of many contenders will completely change based on whether the ward is general or reserved.
Reservation for the posts of Mayor, Sabhapati, and Chairman is to be decided in 309 local bodies of the state. Along with this, a reservation lottery will be drawn for councilors in a total of 10,245 wards.
A total of 309 urban local bodies and 10,245 wards are proposed in the 7 divisions of the state. These include 10 Municipal Corporations, 47 Municipal Councils, and municipalities of various categories.
Jaipur division has the highest number of 91 bodies and 2970 wards, while Kota and Udaipur divisions have 28 bodies each.
While the candidates are waiting for the lottery, on the other hand, major political parties like BJP and Congress have started their election preparations. After the lottery, the activity of ticket aspirants in both parties will intensify further.
