Mount Abu: 14 Cabins, 6 Shops Sealed Over Pending Rent
Mount Abu | The municipality in Mount Abu has taken significant action to recover outstanding rent. On Thursday evening, the administration sealed 14 cabins and 6 shops. Following this action, local traders and BJP workers reached the spot and protested, leading to its temporary postponement.

Sudden Action by the Municipality

This action was initiated under the leadership of the municipality's revenue in-charge, Prabhat Chandel and Mahendra Banjara. The sudden move by the administration caused a stir among the cabin holders and shopkeepers.

A large crowd of cabin holders quickly gathered at the scene and began to protest the action.

Protest by Traders and BJP

Upon receiving information about the matter, several BJP workers, including Mangilal Kabra and Sunil Acharya from the local BJP organization, also arrived at the location. They joined the cabin holders to register their protest against the municipality's representatives.

The BJP workers and cabin holders spoke with the municipality representatives and contacted the Municipal Commissioner and other senior officials by phone.

Action Temporarily Postponed

Following pressure from traders and political figures, the municipality officials decided to defer the sealing action for some time.

It is noteworthy that the municipality had previously sealed four cabins, in protest of which the shopkeepers of the Abu Small Business Association had kept their shops closed for the last three days.

Trade Association Calls it Unjust

Yash Sharma, the president of the Abu Small Business Association, has described the action as unjust. He stated that many traders have paid their rent, while some may have outstanding dues. He said that sealing closed cabins is not right.

What Do the Officials Say?

According to municipality officials Prabhat Chandel and Mahendra Banjara, four cabins were sealed on Tuesday. On Thursday, nine other cabins and 6 shops in the shopping complex were sealed.

Thus, a total of 14 cabins and 6 shops have been sealed so far. A notice to pay the outstanding rent has also been posted on all the sealed properties. The officials have clarified that if the cabin holders pay their outstanding rent, the seals will be removed immediately.
