Josh Inglis appointed as Australia's new ODI captain.
Senior players like Head, Marsh, Cummins, Starc, and Hazlewood are out.
Test specialist Todd Murphy gets his first call-up to the ODI team.
A golden opportunity for young players to prove their talent.
Sydney | Cricket Australia (CA) has announced its squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Bangladesh. Several senior players have been rested for this tour, while wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Inglis has been handed the team's captaincy.
Seniors Rested, Inglis Takes Command
Many of Australia's big names will not be seen playing in this series. These include regular captain Pat Cummins, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood.
In the absence of these key players, the selectors have placed their trust in a young team, which will be led by the 29-year-old Josh Inglis.
National Selector Tony Dodemaide stated that Travis Head was initially selected for both formats but decided to withdraw from the tour for personal reasons.
Meanwhile, all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has not yet fully recovered from his ankle injury. However, he is expected to join the team in Dhaka for the T20 series.
Young Faces Get an Opportunity
Many new and young players have been given a chance to showcase their talent in the team. Spinner Todd Murphy, who has only played Test cricket so far, has been included in the ODI team for the first time.
He has replaced Tanveer Sangha, who is struggling with a hamstring injury. Sangha sustained this injury during the second ODI against Pakistan.
Additionally, Oliver Peake and Matt Short have been retained in the squad. Both were previously selected only for the series against Pakistan.
Lack of Experience in Bowling
Fast bowlers Ben Dwarshuis and Xavier Bartlett have also found a place in the squad. They will replace Riley Meredith and Billy Stanlake.
In the absence of Starc and Hazlewood, the lack of experience in the team's fast-bowling attack is evident. However, captain Inglis sees this as an opportunity.
Captain Inglis believes that "this is a golden opportunity for the young players to prove their mettle."
This series will be a test of Australia's bench strength. The young players have a great chance to capitalize on this opportunity and strengthen their claim for the future. It will be interesting to see how this young team performs on Bangladeshi soil.
