15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been selected for the senior Indian team.
BCCI will bear all expenses for his parents for the Ireland and England tours.
The decision was made to help Vaibhav feel comfortable in the new senior team environment.
Vaibhav's father, Sanjeev Suryavanshi, has already joined his son in Sri Lanka with the India A team.
New Delhi | In an unprecedented move, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made a major announcement for young cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Selected for the senior Indian team for the first time, Vaibhav's parents will be able to accompany him on foreign tours, with the board bearing all expenses.
BCCI's Historic Decision: Young Talent to Get Family Support
For Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who made it to Team India at the young age of 15, the BCCI has ensured that he does not feel alone in a new and challenging environment. This decision could prove to be a milestone in positively impacting the mental health and performance of young players.
Announcing the decision, BCCI Secretary Saikia stated that the board's first priority is to make the young player feel comfortable.
Saikia explained that Vaibhav is very young and has so far traveled only with junior teams of his age group, where he was in his comfort zone.
Because he is a child, we have decided to allow his parents to travel with him to Ireland and England, so they can be with him and help him settle into the new environment.
He added that the senior team's atmosphere is completely different. It's an adult world, and the board wants Vaibhav to adapt to it easily. Having his parents around will certainly make him more comfortable.
A Responsibility Beyond Cricket
This move by the BCCI is not just limited to cricket but also reflects its responsibility towards a young player. The board wants to ensure that no young talent is overwhelmed by the challenges of a new environment.
Saikia emphasized, "We have a certain responsibility to ensure that no one feels uncomfortable or like a stranger in a new setting. This is our basic principle, so that he can gradually adjust to the senior team."
It was also revealed that Vaibhav's father, Sanjeev Suryavanshi, has already traveled to Sri Lanka to join his son. Vaibhav is currently in Dambulla with the India A team for a tri-series.
The board has also offered that if he wishes to travel for the England and Ireland tours, complete arrangements will be made for him as well. This offer has been made keeping Vaibhav's comfort and satisfaction in mind.
This decision could mark the beginning of a new tradition in Indian cricket, emphasizing providing family support to young players during the initial and most crucial phase of their careers. This will not only improve their performance but also make them mentally stronger.
