Bikaner | With the resolve to make the district completely drug-free under the Drug-Free India campaign, an important meeting was organized at the District Collectorate auditorium on Thursday. Chaired by District Collector Mr. Nishant Jain, this district-level Narco Coordination Committee (NCORD) meeting conducted a thorough review of drug prevention, control, and enforcement actions.
Coordinated Efforts for a Drug-Free Bikaner
Presiding over the meeting, District Collector Nishant Jain said that an effective strike on drugs is the greatest need of the hour.
He emphasized that this goal can only be achieved when the administration, society, educational institutions, and ordinary citizens work together.
Joint Responsibility of Administration and Society
The Collector clarified that drug de-addiction is not just a matter of law and order, but also a social and human responsibility.
He called upon the youth to become the pioneers of this campaign. He said that colleges, universities, coaching institutes, and social organizations must also play an active role.
Strict Instructions to Officials
The District Collector gave several important instructions to the concerned officials. He asked to make the actions of the Customs Department more effective.
Additionally, he directed to ensure the legal sale of drugs under the NDPS Act, maintain their records regularly, and strictly enforce the rules.
Superintendent of Police Mr. Mridul Kachhawa, present at the meeting, provided information on the actions being taken by the police department.
He stated that continuous strict action is being taken against drug traffickers in the district through 'Operation Neelkanth'.
Illegal Properties Being Demolished
SP Kachhawa mentioned that with the cooperation of the district administration, action is also being taken to demolish the illegal houses, shops, and other illegal properties of drug traffickers.
He stressed that this campaign will continue in the future to break the backbone of the drug trade.
Helpline Issued for Information on Drug Traffickers
The Superintendent of Police informed that a special anti-drug helpline number 87645-07201 has been issued by the Bikaner Police under 'Operation Neelkanth'.
He appealed to the general public that anyone can report information about the purchase, sale, or trafficking of illegal drugs on this number without any fear.
The identity of the informant will be kept completely confidential, and strict legal action will be ensured against the culprits.
Active Participation of Educational Institutions
Representatives of educational institutions also shared information about their efforts in the meeting. The representative of Maharani College stated that a 'Nai Kiran Nasha Mukti Kendra' is being operated on the college campus.
Meanwhile, Dr. Shwet Goswami, a representative from Synthesis Coaching, mentioned that psychiatrist services are available for student counseling at the institute, and a special suggestion and information box has also been installed.
Presence in the Meeting
At the beginning of the meeting, Joint Director of the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Mr. L.D. Panwar, and Chief District Education Officer, Mr. Mahendra Sharma, presented the progress report of the campaign. During this, SDM Bikaner Mahima Kasana, IAS Mr. Ravi Garg, and officials and representatives from many other departments were present.
