Reports of 20 Trinamool Congress MPs merging with NCPI.
TMC leader Kunal Ghosh claimed the MPs first wanted to join BJP.
Ghosh alleged that BJP refused to induct the rebels into the party.
The TMC leader also questioned the existence and authenticity of the NCPI party.
Kolkata | Political turmoil has erupted in West Bengal over the alleged merger of 20 Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs with the Nationalist Citizens Party (NCPI). Senior TMC leader Kunal Ghosh has launched a scathing attack on the rebel MPs, calling it a result of being rejected by the BJP.
BJP Closed Its Doors
TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh claimed that all these MPs were in contact with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). They were constantly trying to join the NDA.
According to Ghosh, these MPs also made rounds of BJP leaders' houses, but the party flatly refused to include them.
These are guests who are worthy of welcome but not inside the house. They have been given a rented house.
He said that many meetings were held with the BJP, but when it came to the merger, the BJP closed its doors.
Ghosh sarcastically said that if the BJP considered these leaders its own, it would have directly included them in its party, but that did not happen. This makes it clear they have no respect left.
Questions Raised on NCPI's Existence
Kunal Ghosh also raised serious questions about the authenticity of the NCPI. He asked what this party is and why no one has any information about it.
He stated, "I do not have complete information about NCPI. I will not comment on it."
Citing sources, Ghosh said that so far no meeting or resolution has been passed by this so-called party.
He questioned, "Who was speaking on behalf of these MPs? They were talking to the BJP, there was no one from NCPI there. Who inducted them into the party?"
The TMC leader called it shameful for democracy that these MPs were not even given the party flag.
Crisis over Political Future
This entire episode has put a question mark on the political future of the rebel MPs. Meanwhile, the TMC has made it clear that it will not take this rebellion lightly and will keep party discipline paramount. This issue may escalate in the coming days.
