Questioned the CM over Kirodilal Meena's statement on ACB.
Jaipur | Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot launched a scathing attack on the Bhajanlal government in a late-night media interaction. He denied any factionalism within the Congress, stating that the BJP government is delaying Panchayat elections and deserves to be dismissed.
Congress United, Targets BJP
Ashok Gehlot dismissed the recurring questions about unity in the Congress. He clearly stated, "Congress is united. There is no factionalism in Rajasthan, no factionalism in the country. If anyone has this confusion, it should be cleared."
Taking a dig at the BJP, he said that the Congress never comments on the internal affairs of the BJP. Gehlot said, "Did we ask why Rajendra Rathore was not given a ticket in the Rajya Sabha elections? There could be many things to say about the BJP."
Gehlot took the government to task over the delay in Panchayati Raj and local body elections. He said that the government is not conducting elections despite orders from the High Court and Supreme Court, which amounts to flouting the law.
This government deserves to be dismissed. The Governor should report this to the President. Why are they not conducting the elections?
Recalling his tenure, he mentioned that in 1998, elections were held on time as per the High Court's order, despite an ongoing employee strike.
Sharp Remarks on CM and Ministers
Reacting to Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma's statements, Gehlot said he should not be taken seriously, as his own party members are talking about him. He also questioned the behavior of the government's ministers.
Gehlot said, "Some ministers are using abusive language in police stations, while others are threatening collectors."
He also referred to Minister Kirodilal Meena's statement in which he accused the ACB of working under pressure. Gehlot questioned, "The ACB is with the Chief Minister, so who are you accusing?"
The former CM advised Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma to face the media and answer questions. He said this would benefit the government and reveal the ground reality. Gehlot's statements have heated up the state's political atmosphere.
