22 expensive cancer injections, including Bavencio supplied to Bikaner, were recovered from their possession.
The Delhi Crime Branch has sent a notice to the MD of RMSCL, seeking complete records of the Bikaner supply.
Bikaner |Cancer medicine worth lakhs, sent to Bikaner under government supply for the treatment of serious patients, has been found in Delhi's black market. This incident has raised serious questions about the government drug distribution system. The Interstate Cell of the Delhi PoliceCrime Branch has busted an interstate gang involved in this racket.
Four Accused Arrested, 22 Injections Seized
Police have arrested four accused in this case. Twenty-two expensive anti-cancer injections have been recovered from their possession.
The seized drugs include Bavencio 200 mg/10 ml (Avelumab). During the investigation, it was revealed that the entire batch of this drug was sent to the Rajasthan Medical Services Corporation Limited (RMSCL), Bikaner, under government supply.
When the Delhi Crime Branch identified the seized Bavencio injection, its batch number was found to be AU052510, with a manufacturing date of 02/2025 and an expiry date of 01/2028.
Verification with the drug manufacturing company confirmed that this batch was sent directly to RMSCL, Bikaner, for government supply. The main point of the investigation now is how the drug from Bikaner's government stock reached the black market in Delhi.
Allegations of Selling After Erasing Govt Label
According to the police investigation, an attempt was made to erase the government supply-related labels and markings from the seized drugs.
Police suspect that fake entries may have been made in the stock and patient records to move the government drugs out of the system. It is also being investigated whether the patients in whose names the drugs were shown as issued actually received the injections.
According to the Crime Branch, the links of this illegal network extend from Rajasthan to Delhi and further to Vashi in Mumbai. Cash amounting to ₹27.19 lakh has also been recovered from the accused. The police are working to identify other people involved in the network.
Records Sought from RMSCL
After the Bikaner connection came to light, the Delhi Crime Branch sent a notice to the Managing Director of RMSCL, Pukhraj Sain. All documents and records related to the case have been requested from him.
The police want to know the official records of the injections sent to Bikaner and to which patients they were issued.
PBM Hospital Also Under Scrutiny
Following this disclosure, Bikaner's PBM Hospital and the related government drug stock have also come under the scanner. Investigating agencies may cross-verify the stock sent from RMSCL with the stock received at the hospital. If any discrepancy is found in the records, it could point to a major flaw in the government drug distribution system.
