Youth kidnapped from hotel room by men posing as fake ATS officers.
Threatened to be killed in the deserts of Barmer.
A horrifying conspiracy was hatched over a video call regarding an old transaction.
The victim saved his life by paying a ransom of 1.5 lakh rupees.
Sirohi | A horrifying incident has emerged from the Sirohi district of Rajasthan, which seems like a story from a Bollywood crime thriller film. Here, 7-8 miscreants, posing as officers of the Jaipur ATS, abducted a youth from his hotel room in the middle of the night.
Afterward, the victim was intimidated and taken to a deserted area in Barmer near the Pakistan border, where he was threatened with death and a ransom was demanded.
This entire incident is no less than a film script. The victim, Jhalaram, a resident of Mandwariya, narrated his ordeal to the police. He stated that he was staying at a hotel in Mount Abu.
According to Jhalaram, at around 3:30 AM, someone knocked loudly on his room door. When he opened the door, 7-8 people were standing outside.
One of them introduced himself as Vikas Kumar, an officer from Jaipur ATS. Jhalaram thought that if he had done nothing wrong, the police would just take him to the station.
But instead of heading towards the police station, the miscreants turned their vehicle towards Dhundhi Puliya, which instilled fear in Jhalaram's mind.
A horrifying conspiracy hatched on video call
The kidnappers took Jhalaram to Madhav Puliya. There, they made a video call to some people to confirm Jhalaram's identity.
On the video call were Khushwant Rawal, a resident of Bhootgaon, and Raju Ram Rawal, a resident of Manadar. They mentioned an old financial transaction.
When Jhalaram denied any such transaction, the person on the phone gave an order to the kidnappers.
"Take him to the spot"
The voice on the phone said, "You take him to the spot, then he will understand." Yuvraj Singh Soda, a resident of Sodo ki Dhani, was also involved in this conspiracy.
Yuvraj told the kidnappers not to let him go, as he could arrange for money. After this, Jhalaram was forced into the vehicle and driven around.
The miscreants took the victim to the deserted dunes of 'Para' village, about 30-35 kilometers from Barmer, near the Pakistan border.
There, he was forcibly made to sign some blank papers and coerced into making false videos, so that he could be framed later.
The kidnappers first demanded a ransom of 10 lakh rupees, which was later reduced to 5 lakh rupees. When Jhalaram said he didn't have that much money, Khushwant Rawal gave a chilling order over the phone.
"I don't need the money at all, just kill him and throw him away, I will give you the money I promised."
Saved his life by paying 1.5 lakh rupees
Terrified by the constant death threats, Jhalaram found a way to save his life. He told them that he had 1.5 lakh rupees in his car.
After receiving the money, the kidnappers' attitude changed slightly. They gave Jhalaram food and then dropped him off on a highway.
Questions raised on the role of hotel management
After being released, Jhalaram went straight to the Mount Abu police station and filed a report of the entire incident. He also obtained the CCTV footage from the hotel.
The police are investigating the matter with utmost seriousness and have also visited the crime scene in Barmer. However, this incident has also raised serious questions about the security arrangements of the hotel management.
The police believe that if the hotel staff had informed them in time, the accused could have been caught before they even left the hotel. Currently, the police are connecting all the dots to track down the accused.
