Dambulla | India-A faced a defeat against Sri Lanka-A in a thrilling match of the Tri-Nation A series. The match, played in Dambulla on Monday, went into a Super Over after being tied, where the host team emerged victorious. After the loss, Indian player Vaibhav Suryavanshi clashed with Sri Lankan players.
Super Over Thrill and Controversy
In this match, the Indian team scored 265 runs while batting first. In reply, the Sri Lanka-A team was also bowled out for 265 runs in 49.2 overs, tying the match.
Following this, a Super Over was used to decide the winner. Sri Lanka-A scored 17 runs in the Super Over, setting a target of 18 runs for India-A to win.
Chasing the target, Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Suryansh Shedge could only manage 9 runs, and India lost the match. This was Team India's second consecutive defeat.
After the loss, as the players were returning to the pavilion, Suryavanshi lost his temper over a comment from the Sri Lankan players. He got into a scuffle with the opposition players, a video of which has gone viral on social media.
Following this incident, Suryavanshi is facing significant criticism in the cricket world. Many users on social media are demanding action against him.
A Pakistani user on X even demanded a 5-year ban on Suryavanshi.
Struggle of the Indian Innings
Earlier, batting first after losing the toss at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium, the India-A team did not have a good start. The team lost its first wicket at just 29 runs.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Prabhsimran Singh returned to the pavilion early. After this, captain Tilak Varma tried to stabilize the innings with Ruturaj Gaikwad.

The pair added 52 runs for the third wicket. Gaikwad contributed 37 runs and Tilak Varma scored 23. However, after the middle order faltered, the lower-order batsmen took the team to a respectable score of 265.
All eyes are now on the match referee's decision. It remains to be seen whether Vaibhav Suryavanshi will be punished for his behavior or let off with just a warning. There has been no official statement from the ICC yet.
