Former Minister Govind Meghwal has announced a massive protest in Bikaner on July 1.
The reason for the protest is the demolition of a mosque and dargahs in the border areas.
The memorandum demands reconstruction of the demolished sites and protection of other religious places.
A probe into the alleged scam in Ayodhya temple and land deeds for locals have also been demanded.
Bikaner | Former Rajasthan cabinet minister Govind Meghwal has announced a major agitation against the demolition of religious sites in the border areas of Bikaner. He has declared a massive and peaceful sit-in protest on July 1, 2026, demanding immediate intervention from the government.
In a letter to the Chief Minister, Meghwal expressed his deep concern over the issue.
What is the full issue?
The former minister has alleged that for some time now, Muslim mosques and mazars in the border areas of Bikaner are being targeted by the administration.
These incidents have created an atmosphere of fear and insecurity throughout the area, which is a matter of concern.
Massive sit-in in a Gandhian way
Meghwal has warned that a massive and peaceful protest will be held at the Bikaner Collectorate premises from 11 am on July 1, 2026, to oppose this injustice.
Meghwal said, "We are organizing this massive sit-in and protest in a Gandhian way, taking a firm resolve to keep the Constitution of India intact."
The aim of this protest is to draw the administration's attention and prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future.
Key demands in the memorandum
The former minister has also submitted a detailed memorandum of his demands, which includes several important issues.
The first and foremost demand is that the mosque in Bandka village and the dargahs in Pehalwan ka Bera and Aduri be respectfully reconstructed by the administration at the government level.
Additionally, it has been demanded that any potential action to demolish any other religious site in the border areas be immediately stopped.
Investigation from Ayodhya to Bikaner
The memorandum also demands an investigation into the alleged scam of Rs 200 crore in the Shri Ram temple in Ayodhya.
For this, it has been suggested to form a committee headed by a retired judge or to have it investigated by the CBI. A demand has also been made for an investigation into financial irregularities at other major religious sites like Kashi and Mathura.
Demand for land deeds
Another important demand relates to issuing land deeds for those religious and public places in Bikaner district that do not yet have ownership papers.
Furthermore, a demand has been made to grant ownership rights (patta) to people settled on residential land in rural and urban areas, so they can benefit from government schemes and loan facilities.
This protest is likely to heat up the political atmosphere in the border region. It will be important to see how the government responds to these demands and what steps it takes to maintain peace and harmony in the region.
