Bikaner | The Central Government has taken a major initiative to accelerate development in areas adjacent to the India-Pakistan international border. The government has approved the construction of two new railway lines at a cost of ₹2374 crore, which will create a new 186-kilometer-long rail network.
New Impetus for Border Development
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw had announced these significant projects during his visit to Bikaner. He approved these railway lines keeping in mind the needs of the border areas.
Under this project, work will be carried out in two sections of the Bikaner division of North Western Railway. First, a 131-kilometer new line from Anupgarh to Kanasar, and second, a 54-kilometer line from Rozri to Khajuwala will be laid.
The construction of these new rail routes will directly connect several border towns and villages like Anupgarh, Gharsana, Rawla, and Khajuwala to the rail network, fulfilling a decades-old dream of the residents.
Opening Doors for Agriculture, Trade, and Employment
This region is known for the production of crops like wheat, mustard, cotton, guar, and kinnow. The new railway lines will make the transportation of agricultural produce cheaper and faster.
Farmers will get better prices for their produce, and regional trade will also receive a significant boost, strengthening the local economy.
During the construction of the railway line, new employment opportunities will be created for local youth, engineers, and laborers. Better connectivity will also attract industrial investment in the future.
Students and ordinary citizens of the border villages will also benefit from this facility. Their access to higher education and better healthcare services will become easier.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw had said that the new railway lines will become a medium to bring the border areas into the mainstream of development.
A Strategically Important Step
Due to its proximity to the India-Pakistan border, this project is also extremely important from a strategic point of view. It will strengthen the country's security.
Currently, the supply of military equipment and logistics to many border posts depends on road transport, which is time-consuming.
With the new railway line, it will become much faster and easier for the Army, BSF, and other security agencies to transport personnel, weapons, and supplies to the border.
This will help ensure a swift military response in emergency situations and significantly enhance our security capabilities on the border.
This project will not only change the economic landscape of the border areas but also strengthen India's strategic position. It is a visionary step that balances development and security.
