Agreement Documents Not Public
Yashvardhan Singh clarified that if this is the case, the government should name the portal. He said, "I personally searched for this document on the official portals of the Central Water Commission (CWC), the Upper Yamuna River Board (UYRB), and the Rajasthan government, but it was not available anywhere."
Mentioning his efforts to obtain information on the matter, he stated that an RTI (Registration No. UYRBD/R/E/26/00011) was filed with the Upper Yamuna River Board on May 29, 2026.
Through this RTI, information was sought on the current status of the project and related documents, but no reply has been received to date.
Situation Unclear Even in Court
Singh also emphasized that even during the recent hearing of his Public Interest Litigation (PIL), pending in the Rajasthan High Court since 2017, the state government did not provide any concrete information.
He said that the government neither presented a copy of the new MOA before the court nor filed an updated status report on the project. This raises questions about the government's intentions.
Direct Demands to the Government
Questioning the government's transparency, Yashvardhan Singh asked, "If the government truly believes that this project is historic for Shekhawati, then why the aversion to transparency?"
The committee has made some clear demands to the government:
- The certified copy of the latest MOA should be made public immediately.
- The MOA and a detailed status report should be submitted in the pending PIL in the Rajasthan High Court.
- The government should state under oath from which date the construction work will begin.
He concluded by saying that the Yamuna water project is not a matter of any political party but of the water rights of lakhs of people in Shekhawati. He stressed, "In a democracy, providing information to the public is the government's duty, not a favor. Trust is built on transparency."
