This festival is being organized under the holy inspiration of the most revered Gorishi Swami Shri Dattasharananandji Maharajshri, where a religious assembly is held daily in the Satsang Mandap located at the Dharmacharya Mandapam.
In the context of the ongoing Ramkatha after Ramjanmotsav, Jagadguru Shankaracharya shed detailed light on the spiritual purpose of Lord Shri Ram's incarnation. He presented an impressive discourse covering righteous conduct (Dharmacharan), self-realization, the concept of Ramrajya, and the classical principles of charity, which mesmerized the devotees present.
The Purpose of God's Incarnation
The Jagadguru explained that the incarnation of God is not for fulfilling just one specific purpose. He said that the Supreme Being descends for multiple reasons, chief among them being the welfare of living beings, the establishment of dharma, and showing the world the path of an ideal life.
He further added that the unborn, formless, and attributeless Supreme Brahman, bound by the love of devotees, takes the form of a child in the lap of Mother Kaushalya. Although the Supreme Being is beyond name and form, He assumes a name and form for the welfare of the world.
Righteous Conduct: The True Glory of Life
Emphasizing the importance of human life, the Jagadguru said that we have been given this life to practice the dharma prescribed by the scriptures and to renounce adharma (unrighteousness). He stated that the commands and prohibitions of the scriptures should be accepted not just as a tradition, but as a discipline for life. According to him, adherence to dharma is what leads a person to their true glory and identity.
The True Concept of Ramrajya
Clarifying the concept of Ramrajya, he presented a unique perspective. He said that Ramrajya is not merely the name of an external system of governance.
True Ramrajya is established when a person's intellect, mind, sensory organs, and motor organs come under the discipline of dharma. When life becomes endowed with virtues, Ramrajya is established within the individual. He emphasized, "The kingdom of Shri Ram resides in the heart where dharma is established."
Describing the characteristics of the lives of saints and great men, he said that this world is composed of both virtues and flaws. Citing the sentiment of "Jad chetan gun doshmay, vishwa keenh kartar," he said that saints, like swans, abandon flaws and embrace only virtues.
He explained that the purpose of Ramkatha is not merely to become emotional by listening to the story. Its real purpose is to awaken wisdom in life, to renounce one's flaws, and to adopt virtues in one's conduct.
The Classical Principles of Charity
Shedding light on the importance and principles of charity, the Jagadguru said that while compassion can be shown everywhere, charity should only be given to a deserving recipient (supatra).
He clarified that while donating land, cows, or any other item, it is essential to consider the place, time, and the recipient. Citing the shloka from the Bhagavad Gita, "deshe kale cha patre cha taddanam sattvikam smritam," he said that charity given without consideration can become a cause of misfortune instead of yielding the expected fruit.
In conclusion, he stated that listening to and reading about the character of Lord Shri Ram is meaningful only when we incorporate the ideals of dharma, propriety, sacrifice, duty, and public welfare established by him into our conduct. He said that this is the true purpose of Ramkatha and the path that paves the way for the establishment of Ramrajya.
On the occasion of this religious assembly, Rishichaitanyaji Maharaj, Chetanathji Maharaj, Shri Ram Katha Manorathi Kevalaji Kasturaji Purohit Paldi, Pravinji Savantaji Purohit Paldi, Devaram Jagarwal, Raghunathsingh Rajpurohit, Ramchandra Nehra, Balwantraj Ankhol, CEO Alok Singhal, Bharatsingh Basant, Devaram Digari, Harjibhai Modi, and Mularam Purohit, along with thousands of cow devotees, were present.
