Water from the third phase of the Lift Canal will reach Jodhpur in the next 3-4 months.
Jodhpur Airport's capacity has increased to accommodate 12 aircraft simultaneously.
Four additional reservoirs approved, filling has started in one.
The Yamuna water agreement will provide permanent relief to the Shekhawati region.
Jodhpur | Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has made two major announcements regarding the development of Jodhpur. He stated that the third phase of the much-awaited Lift Canal project will be completed soon, providing a permanent solution to the city's drinking water problem. Alongside this, the Jodhpur Airport has also undergone extensive expansion.
Lift Canal Project to Quench Thirst
Union Minister Shekhawat reported that the work on the third phase of the Lift Canal is nearly complete. He said that within the next three to four months, water from this phase will start reaching Jodhpur, leading to a significant improvement in the supply and quality of drinking water in urban and rural areas.
He accused the previous government of delaying the project for years. He mentioned that necessary forest and railway clearances were not obtained, which have now been resolved.
Shekhawat informed that four additional reservoirs were also approved to deal with the water crisis during summers. Filling has already begun in the Phalsund reservoir, and the remaining reservoirs will also be filled soon. Instructions have been given to resolve a dispute related to one reservoir.
Jodhpur Airport: A New Gateway for Western Rajasthan's Development
Describing the expansion of Jodhpur Airport as a cornerstone for the development of Western Rajasthan, Shekhawat said it has been completely revamped. He recalled that until 2014, only two large aircraft could be parked here simultaneously.
This is not just a building construction, but a major cornerstone for the development of Western Rajasthan.
After the expansion under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the airport can now accommodate 12 aircraft at once. The passenger handling capacity has also increased by about ten times.
Development Focused on Future Needs
Modern technology has been used in this expansion work. The airport has been developed keeping in mind the needs of the next 35 years, allowing aircraft to land easily even in bad weather or at night.
The Union Minister also mentioned the Yamuna water agreement. He said that an agreement was reached between Haryana and Rajasthan within 15 days of the Bhajanlal Sharma government coming to power. The implementation of this agreement will provide permanent relief to water-scarce areas adjacent to Haryana, including Shekhawati.
The completion of these projects will not only ease the lives of Jodhpur's residents but will also give a new impetus to tourism and economic development throughout Western Rajasthan.
