Now, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has also come out in his support. He has expressed deep concern over Wangchuk's hunger strike. Thursday marked the 19th day of Wangchuk's fast.

Will Abdullah come to Delhi on July 20

During this time, Omar Abdullah has indicated his arrival in Delhi on July 20. He clarified that his program will not change.

CM Abdullah said, 'The place and method of our program may change, but our plan to go to Delhi will not change. We will not work by hiding in a corner.'

He further added, 'We will go to Delhi and raise our voice. We will see what to do next.'

Appeal to the Central Government

Omar Abdullah has appealed to the central government to intervene in this matter. He said that the government should rise above politics and show humanity and sensitivity.

According to him, the central government should have initiated talks with Sonam Wangchuk by now and urged him to end his fast.

Expressing concern, Abdullah said that Sonam Wangchuk's health is continuously deteriorating and his weight has also reduced significantly, yet no initiative has been taken by the Modi government.

'Dharmendra Pradhan should resign'

Speaking to reporters, the former Chief Minister said that Sonam Wangchuk's main demand is regarding the alleged irregularities and paper leak in national examinations, especially the NEET exam.

He stated that the future of millions of students is in jeopardy due to these incidents, therefore, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan should either resign or be removed from his post.

Comparison with Anna Hazare's movement

Omar Abdullah compared this protest to Anna Hazare's Jan Lokpal movement.

He recalled that the then UPA government led by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had sent its ministers to negotiate with Anna Hazare, whereas the current central government remains indifferent to Sonam Wangchuk's movement.

Doctors express concern over health

Meanwhile, the doctors treating Sonam Wangchuk have expressed serious concerns about his health.

According to his physician, Dr. Satish Lamba, due to not eating for 19 consecutive days, Wangchuk's weight has decreased by more than 9 kg and is now down to 56.9 kg.
